Need to find a Pug play group for Tess

topic posted Mon, January 7, 2008 - 1:12 PM by  Karen
Hi All,

My pug, Tess, is almost 3 and even though she has a sister, Bianca the dalmation, I know she longs for the company of her fellow pugs.

The other night she was humping my leg - if that tells you how lonely she is.

She is pedigreed, although fixed, since the vet said she might not do well having pups.
That's ok though because she is my "Little One" and the best companion on four legs that I've ever had.

We live in Hollister, CA, just south of San Jose. If anyone is interested in play dates, Tess's tail will be wagging.

  • I don't know i your prejudiced about non pugs, We have a 2 year old puggle who loves to play wih other dogs. Pugsley is in the same boat as your Tess his only friends are his brother and his sisters who are all bigger and boxers to boot.

We have been shunned by other pug owners for having a puggle. What we hear most often is he is not a real breed, that he is nothing more than a mutt. Well he is not a mutt, and he is a real breed, most important he is our 4 legged son, that we rescued from a drug house.
    • Tess and I are most definitely not prejudiced against any dogs. We think puggles are precious.
I think its graet that you choose to rescue him - that takes real heart which is what all dogs want us to have. Like Pugsley is your son, Tess is my baby daughter.
We would be happy to set up a play date anytime.
      Arf Arf ARf (Tess agrees)

      • not sure its a real rescue, but when I was in Missouri visiting family when one of my kids point to a sign on a pet store saying Puggles for sale. So I stopped more out of curiosity than anything. My wife kept talking about this new breed. When I went in the clerk told me they just sold the last one. Couple of days later we saw an add in the paper. Called about it, then I drove over to look at it. Was one of the trashiest houses I ever saw, you could tell that she was a St. Bernard breeder had 2 of them tied to a 3 foot chain, looks like they hadn't eaten in days. She brought out this really cute puggle puppy, she was asking $600.00 for it. I just looked around and saw their living conditions got my wallet out, offered her $300 she took it and gave me his paperwork and a baggie of puppy food. When I got to my moms looked at the paperwork saw this lady had just bought him few days before from the same pet store I first stopped at. Plus also had the receipt from the sale. She paid over $700.00, so called the pet store to make sure he wasn't stolen. He knew exactly who I was talking about the lady came back the next day and tried returning the puppy, he said that was against store policy. Start in about how mean the puppy was, and she didn't feel safe with it in the house. Still would not give her the money back. After hearing all this I figured that after she bought the puppy, they ran out of money for drugs. All I can say couple of days later the Puggle and I was on a plane back to California. 2 years later he is still one of the kindest, and smartest dogs I have ever seen.
